The Culture Vault KC℠

"Every Story Deserves A Vault."

My Story

Every movement begins with a question.

Who is preserving our stories?

Growing up in Kansas City, I watched generations of Black excellence shape our neighborhoods, music, businesses, fashion, entrepreneurship, education, and culture. Yet many of those stories were never documented, archived, or celebrated the way they deserved.

I realized that if we don't preserve our history, someone else will tell it—or it may be forgotten altogether.

That realization became my purpose.

The Culture Vault KC℠ is more than an organization. It is a commitment to protecting Black Kansas City's legacy while inspiring future generations to know where they come from and believe in where they're going.

Our Vision

My vision is to create one of the nation's premier cultural destinations dedicated to preserving Black Kansas City's history, creativity, innovation, and legacy.

Through immersive exhibits, storytelling, education, community partnerships, and digital archives, The Culture Vault KC℠ will ensure that future generations inherit more than memories—they inherit documented history.

Why It Matters

Culture disappears when it isn't preserved.

Communities lose identity when stories go untold.

Legacies fade when history isn't documented.

The Culture Vault KC℠ exists so that future generations won't have to wonder who built this city.

They'll know who came before them. They'll know they belong.

A Legacy Bigger Than Me

This isn't about me.

It's about creating something that will outlive me.

My hope is that decades from now, children will walk through The Culture Vault KC℠ and see themselves reflected in history.

If one young person leaves believing they can become the next artist, entrepreneur, educator, historian, or community leader because they saw someone who looked like them inside these walls...

Then we've succeeded.

Every Story Deserves A Vault.

The Culture Vault KC℠ is more than an organization.

It is a promise to preserve Black history, celebrate Black excellence, and ensure that future generations know where they come from.

Because history deserves to be remembered.

Legacy deserves to be protected.

And every story deserves a vault.

Why I Created The Culture Vault KC

I didn't create this organization because there wasn't talent.

I created it because there wasn't enough preservation.

I believe our artists...
our educators...
our entrepreneurs...
our musicians...
our neighborhoods...
our elders...
our families...

and our everyday stories deserve to live forever.

History isn't only found in textbooks.

History lives in our communities.
